About Authentic Girl…A Message from Leslie

When my book Authentic Beauty was released in 2003, it hit a nerve among young women in today’s culture. After the book came out, we launched authenticgirl.com to provide a place where set-apart young women could connect with each other and find strength and encouragement for living a set-apart life. The response was overwhelming. Thousands of young women from around the country and the world came to this website and expressed their hunger to live out Christ-shaped femininity. Hearing the hopes, dreams, struggles and fears of countless young women is what sparked the vision for Authentic Girl.

In addition to providing resources on our website, we began to offer Authentic Girl weekend retreats in Colorado several times a year – three days of intimate fellowship exploring the set-apart life and connecting with other like-minded young women. For the past three years, these retreats have been a huge success, and have built a strong network of set-apart young women around the country.

Authentic Beauty has recently been updated, revised and re-released in bookstores around the country, and we have also released a full-length Authentic Beauty Study Guide for individual and group study. As even more young women experience the message of this book, our goal is to provide practical help, support, encouragement and vision as they seek to live a set-apart life in the midst of a debased culture. This website has been re-built and expanded to include ongoing support and encouragement for young women seeking the fullness of Christ. We have recently launched our first Authentic Girl weekend conference and hope to take this event on the road in the near future.

We have recently launched Authentic Girl: The Fellowship – which provides help to any young woman desiring to start a fellowship group of set-apart young women in her community. And plans are underway for the Authentic Girl Magazine – a bi-monthly collection of articles, stories, and inspiration for set-apart living.
