Most girls "melt" when they see a guy who genuinely loves little children. Well, my heart "melted" the other day as I watched Eric interact with Hudson. Eric always liked kids, but never felt he was very good with them. But once we had Hudson, a special "father" side of him seemed to emerge. He is an amazing dad. Everyday, Hudson and Daddy have their "learning time", during which they sit together on the couch, and learn dog breeds (from the official AKC Book on DogBreeds) country flags and locations (on the world map), and planets in the solar system. I realize this sounds sophisticated for a two-and-five-month old, but for some reason Hudson is far more intrigued with learning the galaxy, world geography, and 165 dog breeds than he is with learning the ABC's. Eric cheers wildly when Hudson gets the answers right, and then he proudly ushers Hudson into the kitchen to demonstrate his newfound knowledge to me. I am blown away by how Hudson responds to Eric's investment of time and enthsiasm. He has retained incredible amounts of information, and learning to him is a game - not work. I am thankful every day that God gave me a husband who makes my heart "melt" - and watching him as a father only makes me love him more! I can't wait to see him be a dad to our little girl on the way!
